To all my fans

What's up everyone? Thought I'd come on and post something for all of my fans...haha...jk. Just got back into town, and of course it is cold and rainy. I think it's safe to say that this tour didn't exactly live up to our expectations. The highlights: Eddie's Attic Open Mic and the Savannah late night jam session with some folks from Virginia Tech. On that note, if those people somehow someway stumble upon this blog, please send us the video from the jam...that would be cool to see. I was under the weather for most of this tour, which was not fun. I slept a lot...even more than usual. However, I am feeling much better now.

Learned a couple of things on this tour.
1. Contrary to popular belief, I can and did rock a flannel for much of the tour.
2. Somersaults, the newest song I wrote, is legit.
3. Mike can drive for 9 hours straight no problem.
4. Having two cartons of smokes at your disposal makes you smoke even more than normal.
5. Watch your back, especially if you are a dude, if you ever go to Greenville, Alabama.

That's about it. Keep these things in mind...and we'll all be alright.

So... just hangin tonight.  We rocked in Atlanta today.  Just typing that is kewl... but then again it was in a park promoting our show.  Found out that Bobby Rush, a legend harp player is playing the same place.  WOW.  J-Bah and the guys said that I sound better, mainly cause I'm adapt better.  Regardless... I'm a Shib.  and damn farking proud of it ...  and will be.  These guys have no idea what their music does to peeps... their writing and music rocks.  And for whateva reason I'm on this ride.. I host a toast.

Pirates

This trip has been pretty nuts really.  Friday night we played in a Cage, literally.  Lots of people at that show in Evansville, IN, but the last band's (Last Hour) drummer screwed us on $.  So that is not cool.  The other guys in the band were super nice and cool...the drummer is a tool.

Saturday was Sonny's Brick Oven Pizza in Spartanburg, SC.  Great place, but sort of a slow night.  Either way, the folks there were cool.

No show, so we drove to the Ocean.  Mouse hooked us up with a hotel, which was surrounded by a local marina.  We checked out all the awesome yachts people had parked there.  Then commandeered a raft for a cruise down the channel. Not sure what inspired Sunday nights activities, as we took the night to hang out in Charleston SC.  Maybe it was the news story of the Somali pirates, maybe it was miller light.

Played Eddie's Attic in Decatur, GA last night for an open mic competition thing.  Made it to the finals, so that is good stuff.

There is a long hard road.......

Hola my friends....

Wow, what a couple of days. I really don't know what to say after everything that has gone down. But I will drop some werds all short and sweet, cause I'm tired, lil drunk, and worried about my 9 to 5 gig....

So this is the short post... look for more tomorrow night... but I have some thoughts in brief that I must share....

We played Eddie's Attic tonight... A legendary venue where the best of the very very very very best walk the land. Musicians that keep me in awe, of the craft I dream of being a part of.

The Shibs had a slot to play.... only 2 songs.... which is all you get... and only 3 members. So last night we talked it over and the guys agreed that Harks, Andy, and I would walk the walk. It was never just the 3 of us playing cause in my mind, we are always a team, but wow. Just wow. I forever will tip my hat to the entire band... the pleasure and honor is mine jamming with these guys... never the less...

a) We made the finals. We weren't selected as the winner, but we made the finals.
b) The audio will be posted shortly
c) How does one get as lucky as this. Rauk.

Never the less... Sleepy time for mouse.... But what a ride for the Shibs... more to follow....
including pics...

PS: The "blackest" white guy you will ever see.... Comment from Hurley, a black woman in the crowd after we jammed.

PPS How does one accept the above comment... and being told that you have the most passionate, blackest soul I have ever seen... Thank you doesn't work :)

PPPS: For those that are religious.... Send Prayers out to Darren Hagen, a friend of mine that was hurt badly in a Sprint Car wreck at Eldora. We all take our rides....

Day 2, which follows Day 1

Holla,

Your resident harp player here... not able to sleep, so droppin some werds on the blog. I don't know why I'm not droppin over... Work had me up for 40 plus hours consecutive before I headed out on this trip, but never the less I'm here.

Major thanks out to the new Wifey... Jillian. Still awesome to say "wife" Jillian.. and yes I tied the knot. I never thought it would change things but it has, shifting my perceptions on things, and re-lighting the fire that was still burning, but now more focused. Scared yet? I am. In that I'm going to kick some ash kinda way...

So to catch you up on things from the view of the mouse... Got married, want spring, playing congas more, have the racing bug rather bad, taking some amazing pics, focused more, learning advanced management skillz, and trying to deciede what mountain to climb next. Rauk.

The shibs are on tour. The counts right now...
Colin 2 for 2 with major wounds
Burrito count: 2
Strip club like venues 1
Trailer Park Boys DVD's viewed: 3
Cop's that we thought were going to bust us: 1
Guys' in wierd liquor stores that resemble giant blue berries: 1
Smells that induce nausea in normal people, but were created by people: 3.14

Ok. First night was Georgio's. Great venue, cool peeps, but you could tell they didn't have live music much. People would not move so we could set up and despite the coolness of McPhil rollin down and Jillian giving me a ride to the gig (worked too long and would have missed the entire tour otherwise) (best wife eva?) it just seemed like the vibe wasn't there. Tons of people, great bar, awesome drinks, but crowd interaction wise it seemed flat. Regardless we rocked hard and Andy is writing some killer tunes. Tour brings a band tighter and SommerSalt (speeled wrong for humor effect) rocks.

Tonight was umm... wierd. The Cage was the venue and umm well err Fauk It .. Here:

So yeah.. Unique. And I will likely leave it at that. Unique.

We were thinking of starting our own wall o shame for places that are not all that band kind. Now don't get me wrong. Karen was a saint and it was a unique cool place to play, but we have our reasons that's for sure.

Well long drive ahead tomorrow. For those that are following this, and work at a company that shall not be named that I'm employed at, please do not share that I am on the road. I'm just taking a week away to gather my thoughts and relax, not travel the country, write drivel on the internet at odd hours, and rock out with some of the best musicians a guy could ask to rauk out with. Remeber, I'm married and settled down now...

Song done on blog 1... Time to get some work done while the guys sleep... and yes I am doing real work for the company that shall not be named...

Be safe and take care.

Til next time.....

PS Picks of the tour.... and yes I will drop this link like it's hot quite often...

Crystal Meth

Ha.. not what you think

Tonight we played Crystal Lake, Illinois, not far from where I lived not too long ago on the northside of Chicago.  Right along the good 'ol Metra line.  Georgio's Pizza has good food for sure.  The place was so packed when we arrived that we had to start quite a bit late.  But hey, busy is a good thing.  Nice young crowd.   I don't think they are used to having bands, but we went over well to those willing to listen.  Kyle, the manager, is good shit and I think we'll hit up Georgio's again.

This video is completely unrelated to anything.  Colin had a funny freestyle in a South Dakota hotel, which was mostly about JB's new facial hair...."weird beard."  Love it
